What is Talk Money Week?
The week is an opportunity for everyone to get involved with events and activities across the UK which help people have more open conversations about their money – from pocket money to pensions – and continue these conversations year-round. We encourage everyone to use the week as an opportunity to talk about any aspect of money.

Why Talk Money
With the current cost-of-living pressures, it’s more important than ever that we widen access to advice and support for those experiencing money and debt worries.

Research shows that people who talk about money:

  • Make better and less risky financial decisions
  • Help their children form good lifetime money habits
  • Feel less stressed or anxious and more in control.
  • Breaking down cultural stigma related to money and debt
  • Building money conversations into our everyday lives also helps us build financial confidence and resilience to face whatever the future throws at us.

Do One Thing
This year, all over the UK everyone is encouraged to ‘Do One Thing’ that could help improve their financial wellbeing – and to make a noise about it, and to inspire others to do the same.

Rooted Finance had a very busy Talk Money Week, which included our CEO Muna Yassin speaking at TISA UK Inclusive Investing Roundtable, as well as being one of the special panellist at the Money Advice Liaison Group (MALG) Annual Conference in Leeds, discussing the topic ‘Engaging with and supporting hard to reach communities’.
